Hello, I downloaded the security updates for backup use. Is it possible to
remove all files and folders of each update and keep the .exe files like
(WindowsXP-KB834707-X86-ENU-EXE) and use just the .EXE files in case there is
a need to reinstall the updates?
Thank You.

Hello, I may have not stated the question in a clear manner. I have installed
all security upodates and also downloaded a second set of the updates to a
folder on a seperate HD to keep for backup. When I downloded the updates the
download utility created a separate sub folder for each update which includes
several sub folders and files other then the basic .exe file. The questioned
asked if the other folders and files can be deleted and the bare .exe file
can install the update.
Hope this is a little bit clearer.

What download utility are you referring to? The standard EXE's that are listed on the site that I linked to are all you need. There is one executable for each update, no separate/additional files.

Hello, Appreciate you taking so much time, thank you.
Go to v4 windows update site, scroll down and click on the second bottom of
the list ( WINDOWS XP SP2). Click on critical updates and service packs (54).
Click on Item and add to basket. Click on "go to download basket". Browse to
storage folder (c:\TEMP). Click download now and click accept. File is
downloaded. When I go to TEMP folded this is what I find. A folder 'WU" sub
folder "software" and a file iuhist_catalog.xml. Open subfolder "software"
find subfolder "en" then subfolder "com_microsoft.windowsxp", then subfolder"
x86winxp" (these are empty only contain the next sub folder), then subfolder
"com_microsoft" and the the file name. Inside this folder is a readme file
(html) and the .exe file. If there is a way to just download the .exe?
Take Care.
