Security update question

Hi, Hope this is where to ask this or is there a newsgroup on updates ?
(couldn't find one in search)
A Scan of my hard drive by my virus program found a "known" Microsoft
security threat and the related bulletin # was MS04-028. I clicked on MS
updates and the update wizard opened, scanned my drive, and told me I had the
latest updates installed and there were no others to be 'recommended'. Yet
the warning threat came up that it was "very high" security risk.
So I'm not sure if I'm covered or not. If I am why did the warning come up?
So can someone tell me where to go to make sure with Windows XP?
Thanks
Catt

Look in add/remove for hptfix 833987 if present then you are protected. If
you have installed service pack 2 then you are also protected from this
exploit.

What virus program are you using?
..
The link below will perovide a scanner just for the jpeg exploit and will
let you know if you are infected with it.

Hi, I have SP2 and I use Trend Micro. Trend Micro saw it and deleted it.
The threat box came up from "Windows Update" . I've never seen it before and
thats why I asked the question.
Thanks for the info.

It's possiable that you could have had an infected file but since you have
SP2 it would not have done anything. Have you rescanned with Trend Micro? if
so did the same thing happen?

Yes MAP the same thing happens every time I scan with TrendMicro. It seems
like the security threat never disappears.
