When updating my system with Security Update for Windows
XP (KB821557), I can no longer right click on any items,
ie for name changes, desktop items for more options like
empty recycling bin or even on the task bar commands like
FILE without my system halting/freezing. The only
options are to alt-cntl-del and end process of
explorer.exe or unplug the cpu and reboot. I have no
virus, or worms. Checks have been done using MS live
help. This is happened before with the roll-up update
which i had to remove. I still haven't placed that on my
system and now this new update seems to have the same
effect. HELP. i can be contacted here or email
(e-mail address removed). THANK YOU TO ANYONE WITH INFO TO
HELP!!!

I notice that you've been ignored.
I had a problem that turned out to be running the same
Update file - I forget which one.
Horror effects like yours. I reinstalled XP. Re-updated
SP1 and downloaded the later updates from Microsoft.
I installed them one at a time. Everything worked
perfectly.
I saw some question online and for some unknown reason I
decided to install the updates again. Half way through, my
computor said my XP wasn't registered to me and would shut
down!!!!
I went into Safe Mode and did a System Restore and skipped
that file and have never had a problem.
Hope that helps.
