I am trying to find out more information on this update and who needs it. I
tried using the link in the update but it does not work and the search
feature cannot find out in MS Support. Can anyone help me out as I am
somewhat leery about updating anything which might give me more C++ Runtime
errors.

Thanks

Jim

Have you read this? Does your system apply?

"More information about this security update
In addition to the product version that is specified in the "Applies
to" section, this security update is only meant to be used with the
following product:

* Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package

Important This security update cannot be applied to any other editions
of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1."

If you don't have that installed, you don't need it.

Simple, huh?

Yes I did and I also noticed that the update was listed under MS Visual
Studio. The update had it checked, which implied that it was applicable
to my system. I know that is not always correct which is why I always
verify whether I need them or not. I did not know if the application was
buried somewhere in one of the Office Products or in Vista as part of the
standard load, which is why I posted to this site.
I get confused with so many products that are installed with other products
that I lose track.

So I am going to guess that Visual Studio does not reside anywhere on my
machine then.

Thanks

Jim
