"Security Update for Microsoft Data Access Components
(KB832483)
Download size: 2.0 MB, < 1 minute
An identified security issue in Microsoft Data Access
Components could allow an attacker to compromise a Windows-
based system and take a variety of actions. For example,
an attacker could execute code on the system. By
installing this update, you help protect your computer.
After you install this item, you may have to restart your
computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be
removed"

I have installed this security update a dozen times. I've
rebooted, although it does not call for a reboot. It
shows up as a successful install in the install log. When
I check Critical Updates, sure enough, this exact security
update is reuired for download and install. What gives?
Has anyone else had this issue?

Make sure you have one of the following versions of MDAC on your machine.
MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 2
MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 3
MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2
MDAC 2.7
MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1
MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 Refresh
MDAC 2.8

The update patch is only able to upgrade the versions listed above. The
easiest thing to do is upgrade to a newer version of MDAC. This should
allow the patch to install.
