The only reason I can think of is that you are a wanker using 13th (your date is
set as 13th instead of 12th) as your starting point. Always avoid using this
number.

Hi,

Thanks for that. Following is the result I got after i execute the
Javascript

;SP1;Q837009;q313829;

Thanks

Hi,

I tried to update windows using the Windows Update, but the
security Update for IE6 Service Pack 1 (KB832894) not getting installed.

When i select this update it shows its downloading the update and
installing. After installation it shows that the update is installed
succesfully. But after restarting the PC and again do an update, it
shows that the same update (Security Update for IE6 Service Pack 1
(KB832894)), not installed.

I tried updating the same more than 7 times, but after restarting the
PC and run the Windows Update again it shows the update is not
installed. What I have to check/do to get this update installed?

My IE' about box shows the version as MS Internet Explorer 5, but in a
small label in the about box shows the version number as 6.0.2800.1106.
Its quite confusing? One label shows IE 5 and another label in the same
screen shows 6.0.2800.1106. The Update version in the about box is
displayed as ;SP1;Q837009.

Can anyone help me to get this update installed?

Thanks

Hi Rajeev,

The problem you describe sounds like you may somehow have mismatched
binaries from 2 separate IE versions (IE5 and IE6). Try to download and
install the package from the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...68-B59A-47C0-90D3-0C884910BC97&displaylang=en

If this package fails, please reply back to this thread with:

1. The error message.

2. What OS you are using.

3. The version of these files (browseui.dll, mshtml.dll, shdocvw.dll,
shlwapi.dll, urlmon.dll, wininet.dll)

4. How did you get to this point? What OS/IE versions have you
installed/upgraded to this point.

If it works, great. Please let us know that too.

And your Windows version...? ($5 says it's WinME <wink>)

Please include all of the previous message in your replies.

H Steve,

I have tried the same as per you mail, but still its not working. The
details that you asked are give below:

The installation package failed without showing any

1. The error message: This update requires Internet Explorer 6.0
Service Pack 1 to be installed. (The service pack is already installed)

2. OS - Windows 98 SE

3. File versions - browseui.dll - 5.00.2919.6304, mshtml.dll -
5.00.2919.6307, shdocvw - 5.00.2919.6307, shlwapi - 5.00.2919.6304, ,
urlmon.dll - 5.00.2919.6303, wininet - 5.00.2919.6305.

4. I came upto to this after doing a windows update. All the update
before this was done without any error or crash downs. I did the service
pack update using ie6setup.exe and it also went well without any issues.
If i run the command javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion in url it
displays the information ;SP1;Q837009;q313829;.

Can you help me out to solve the issue?

Thanks
Rajeev R

Rajeev,

I can clearly see by looking at those binary versions that the IE install
for some reason did not complete properly. If you actually had IE6.0 SP1
installed, the minimum version of those files should have been
6.00.2800.1106. I would suggest trying to install IE6.0 SP1 again, and
check the below files again after your install. Post back here and let us
know how it went.

First try overinstalling IE6-SP1:

First, close *everything* via CTRL+ALT+DEL except Windows Explorer (includes
your AV program, Scheduled Tasks, Screensaver, and going offline).
Start>Run>IE6Setup.exe. Select Minimal - Custom; Select all the parts you
use, including OE (but none you didn't originally download) and overinstall.
Should take about 2 minutes. Reboot the computer.

Now, with AV and all other running processes still closed, check in at
Windows Update for additional updates and patches you will need.

To assure a clean install, your anti-virus application should be disabled
and all other running processes closed before installing anything, including
Windows Updates, and especially in Win9x.
