I find everynow and then a folder on a NTFS file server share (windows 2000
server) where the security has gone out of whack. Like, even though it says
it's inheriting from the folder above, it shows different rights
assignments. When I have found this in the past I just change something and
it all resets itself to what it should be. Is there some kind of tool that
will search around for this kind of thing to fix it before somehow I stumble
across it?

cacls.exe is the tool normally used to automate assignment/
examination of acl attributes.
