Security tab missing

I assume you are talking about the Security tab on the
properties page for a file or folder.

This can happen for several reasons:

1. File system is FAT. FAT has no concept of ACL's or
security.

2. The user you are currently logged on as does not
have "Read Permissions" on the ACL for that object.

3. This can also happen if aclui.dll fails to load for
some reason.

If the file system is NTFS and the current user does
have "Read Permissions" on the object and the security tab
is still not visible, then please post the following:

What SP do you currently have installed?

What versions of aclui.dll and advapi32.dll do you have
installed?

There is a Security tab in several UIs, which is only
visible if the Advanced options are enabled, through the
View menu.
