Security tab is missing

OS: windows 2000 server
C: and D: drive are NTFS file system

When I logon local and open C: or D: properties, there is
no Security tab.
But when I map to C$ or D$ share, I was able to see the
Security tab.
Any reason why?

There are a couple of reasons that could cause this as explained in the links below
based on user not having correct permissions to a file or registry key that can be
used to hide the security tab. Also check Event Viewer system and application log for
any problems that may be related.--- Steve

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
I accidentally deleted the file rshx32.dll when I hardened
the box.
So I copied back the file and it fixed it.
