(Recommended)" in tools/folder options/view... but i DONT have this

if i use some folders "made" with windowsXP, those folders have security
tab, but i dont know what i must to do that security tab appears in
w2000-made folders...

PLEASE HELP

First make sure that you are using the ntfs file system as fat32 does not offer
folder security. Highlight your drive in Explorer and look at properties. It will
tell you what file system you are using. You can convert fat32 to ntfs without losing
any data or applications. However it is always best practice to back up your data
before doing such. See the link below on how to convert to ntfs. --- Steve

Steven, may be I can pick your brains, as I'm rather new to Win2K (and
know nothing about XP)? If the OP didn't have sufficient permissions to
change security settings on folders, would the security tab be visible?

The security tab would be visible but read-only in this case.

I have the same problem as Krunom, that I dont have that "Simple File Sharing" checkbox. I have already checked mi disk partition, and it is a NTFS partition. What else could it be? I am using WXp Home edition
Many thank

I have never used XP Home, but it is my understanding that for that version
of XP, you need to boot into safe mode and logon as built in administrator
account to access ntfs permissions. --- Steve

help.
