Security Stored in Application

I have an 2000 database that has security implemented. I only used
groups to assign permissions. However, somewhere along the way a user
must have been assigned permissions to an object because the security
is now stored in the application.

Does anyone know how to reverse that and have it only be in the .mdw
file?

The permissions for given objects are always stored in the .mdb file. The
..mdw file is used to authenticate the users and groups. If an individual
user has "automagically" obtained some permissions that were not assigned to
him/her, then you may have missed a step in your setup of user level
security.
