I have an HP Pavillion with ME and Internet Explorer 6.0.
In the Security Tab (from Tools, Internet options)all
icons for the different zones are gone. As a result the
adjuster level is stuck in its highest position, all
buttons are grey-When I try to drugg the adjuster down the
program caus an error in the Kernel32.dll, and IE 6.0
closes down. This causes display problems for many web
pages, and unable to receive my e-mail from Juno.
a. I tried to re-install IE 6.0....didn't help
b. Tried to remove IE 6.0 from CTRL Panel Add/Remove
Programs, IE 6.0 is not listed.
c. Tried to delete the IE 6.0 folder from under Program
Files, WIN ME will not permit doing so.
d. I tried to use the WIN ME recovery CD but that will re-
install WIN ME and will require me to re-install every
single program since we bought the computer (pretty
stupied!)
Can anyone help?
many thanks
David

Hi,

Option 1) Format your hard drive, sell your computer and
get a Mac or Linux box.

Option 2) Back-up your files, format your hard drive,
reinstall Windows and IE.

Option 3) Restart your computer, the moment you see
the "Starting Windows..." text click F8. From the menu
select MS-DOS. Delete IE. Restart your computer and
load Windows. Install IE. If this doesn't fix the
problem it means there are some bogus entries in the
registry, but at least you should have IE in Add/Remove
Programs. Remove IE, the uninstaller should remove IE's
registry entries. Install IE again. If this doesn't
work see options 1 and 2 above.

Hope this helps.

Before you format c: Try control panel >add remove
programs >internet explorer6.0 >remove.
This should give you an option to remove/ repair ie6 try
repair good luck.
