Security settings and VPN

I have this problem:

Our Clients can access to the local intranet without problem. The
intranet site is recognized as "Local Intranet".Now, When the client
access via VPN, the same site is recognized as "Internet" security
zone instead of "Local Intranet" like ever...

I can't understand Why.

Can anyone help me?
