-Avery Anderson-

A doctor friend asked me if I could show her how to create a popup that
would instantly come up if someone came in the office while sensitive
informations was on the screen.

I said no, but it shouldn't be too hard to find out how to do it.
Everything else in the world seems to pop up without much trouble.

So, is there an easy way to create a control key combo that would launch,
say the screensaver, or a photo, or something?

Thanks for any help with this.

A key combo is Win-L , that is lock it, ie. brings up the logon screen and
hides the desktop

Another way is to create a shortcut to a screensaver, ie. on desktop,
rightclick and choose new->shortcut. On first screen browse to a suitable
screensaver ( c:\Windows\system32\*.scr), on second choose a name for that
shortcut..

Here are a couple of other options:

Windows key + M will minimize all open windows. If the taskbar is
set to Auto-hide then all that will be visible is the desktop
wallpaper. Windows key + Shift + M reverses this procedure.

There's an icon in the Quick Launch portion of the taskbar titled
"Show desktop" that might be useful. Obviously, you can't hide
the taskbar here.

There are keyboards on which you can program the Function keys to
open files or run programs. That would be the best way to run a
screen saver or picture. One button and you're done.

Click Show Desktop on the Taskbar.

The taskbar is this blue line at the bottom of your screen. At the right, on
the taskbar, is the Start button. Next to the Start button are the Quick
launch items. one of the is the Desktop icon. If you don't see small icons
immediately at the right of the Start button, do the following:
Right-click the taskbar where there is no icon and no text. A menu will
come up. Go to the top menu item called Toolbars. In the pop-up sub-menu,
select Quick Launch. A small number (three or four) of icons will appear on
the Taskbar, next to the Start button. By slowly passing your mouse pointer
over the icons (do not click), the name of each icon will appear in a screen
tip. Read the screen tips. The one called Show Desktop give you the desired
feature you are looking for: when someone comes in, you click the Show
Desktop icon on the Taskbar and all your active windows are minimized
instantly, leaving nothing but your desktop's wallpaper for all to see.

I hope this is what you were looking for.
