security problem

hi. i have a problem with my antivirus program. i have
Norton Antivirus 2003 and after installing this program
doesn't finish his job; then when i try to scan the NAV
program start and immediatly stops. then i had tryed
another antivirus : Kasperky. when i turn on the computer
it shows me an message "the proces
Aministartor\wuampa.exe tryes to terminate Kasperky AVE
Monitor". What is wuampa.exe? or what's happening to my
computer? thanks

Hi Gabi,

Have you checked in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs to see if you can
uninstall Kapersky Anti-Virus software. If you cannot, check the Startup
folders for any Kapersky software and also run Regedit and check;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Try deleting any icons or registry entries for the software.

There are various virus / worms out there that will actively kill processes
for virus scanning software etc. One example of this that I recently ran
into was c:\windows\system\svchos1.exe
(http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.hllw.gaobot.dk.html). The
symptoms that you describe are precisely what I had experienced. Just for
fun, boot into safe mode and try scanning again...

Hey Gabi... I'm kind of curious if you ever got to the bottom of the
problem you were having? If so, what was the source of the problem?
