Hi all

A young friend of mine has a XP Professional computer. The copy of XP
installed is shown by WGA to be illegal. I persuaded him to buy a genuine
copy. How should he go about installing the genuine version without losing
his data or re-installing his applications? Does he have to use a repair
install? Please address any replies to the news group. My email address is
false.

Assuming your friend has a confirmed non-genuine version of
Windows XP Professional, and purchased a genuine "Full Version",
and not an "Upgrade Version" of Windows XP Professional,
the new Windows Product Update Tool should make the conversion.
