I have Windows XP and Microsoft Internet Explorer. I am getting e-mails
talking about the latest security patch that look like Microsoft but not
sure if they are. They are from the following address and I want to know if
this address is you or some Spam site ready to send me a virus.

(e-mail address removed)

Gordon

wild. Customers are advised to review the information and take the
appropriate action for their environments.

The e-mail is a hoax, do not open the attachment that is included with it as
it contains a virus.

For the record, Microsoft never sends out file attachments with update or
security notices.

The reason why you are getting this email is that somebody
is gathering your email address from this community
discussion group to sent you a virus to hijack your
computer. I have got the same email too. I've got it after
participating in this group. Microsoft should allow people
to post genuine questions without revealling their
address. The current situation is open to spam. These guys
sent multiple emails about update to people they think is
green in regards to computers.
I would strongly suggest to post a fake account. with a
fake name for your own privacy

If you posted using Outlook Express, you could easily hide your e-mail
address. Go to the following link, click the link under "Why Choose an NNTP
Newsreader" (One of the reason is because you can hide your e-mail address)
and follow the instructions for setting up Outlook Express. You can access
all these groups and more using OE.
