Security on a shared folder

Hi all -

I have an Access 2000 database on a shared folder. The
folder is set up so that me and one other person have
full permissions and everyone else that accesses the
folder has read only permissions.

Read only users can access the file just fine when I do
not have the file open. If I do have the file open, they
get the message "could not lock file" and the db will not
open. The other person that has full permissions can open
the database when I have it open.

Is this a folder permissions issue or an Access issue? I
have my default record locking set to "no locks" and
the 'open databases using record level locking' checkbox
is not checked.

Thanks,
Char

Anyone who needs to *use* the database file needs full permissions on the
folder. This is because an LDB file needs to be created, modified, and
deleted as users come and go.
