Please help, we have tried everything when we sign in to a
secure web site EG.banking site, we get a "security
notice" that the certificate is not valid or has expired.
Our computer never did this before my wife started
pressing buttons in "tools, internet options." We have
restored defaults and reset the security and privacy
settings but to no avail. Can anyone help me get things
back to normal ?

Larry,

1st, apologize to your wife, shame on you for blaming her
because you don't know what the problem is!

Microsoft has built in this security feature specifically
to warn users when a "trusted" site has an expired
certificate. It could very well be that your "trusted"
banker has an expired certificate!

Step 1: Make sure your computers date and time are
correct. Move your cursor over the time showing at the
very bottom right corner of your screen. If the date and
time are incorrect then right click on the clock
and "adjust" date and time. If the date was wrong that
would explain why your computer was detecting an out of
date certificate.

Step 2: If the date and time are correct, contact
your "trusted" banker and inform him or her that your
computer has detected their certicate is "not valid or
has expired". They should be able to explain.

Step 3: Apologize to your wife again.

NOTEKY,

You are the BEST,

Followed all of your steps, and now can confidently blame
the cat !! when I checked the date, it looked right said
August 24th, but when I looked closer it said Aug 24,2000

I fixed the date, did a restart, and checked the banks
site and NOOOOOO message !!!! Thanks so much.

Oh and my wife says THANKS too, !! she loved the apology.
Larry.
