Can someone please explain the security implications of me connecting
from one machine to another using Remote Desktop? Any and all
information would be helpful.

As long as you use complex passwords for your logons then it's secure. RDP (the protocol that Terminal Services uses) is encrypted and only transmits screen images, keystrokes, mouseclicks, redirect print jobs, sound redirection and file copy/paste between local & remote computers

Be careful of folder redirection though... A virus could propogate
over a RDC session if you happen to trigger one while connected....
