security download messed up my e-mail

Comcast notified me to download a security patch against
the Sasser Virus last week. I downloaded it from the
Microsoft website and ever since I cannot reply to any e-
mails. It keeps trying to download something that it says
is on a disk and gives error message 1706. What a pain!
Any help? Yes, I've shut down and rebooted.
 
What's your mail client? Probably best to post in a group for that software.
