SP2 security center is worthless - long before MS wakeup to firewalls I was
using one and still want to use the one I an using and NOT MS's half-ass
one. The problem is the center pops up all the time saying you do not have
a firewall turned on. I have checked 5,000,000,000,000
times I have my own and want to use it (yes it is on and functioning). How
do you turn off this damn security center crap 100%. There was fix shown
here but it does N O T work.

Please clue me in.

Thanks in advance...............

Hi

The following method works here:

Go to Control Panel>Security Center and click on 'Change the way Security
Center alerts me'. Change the appropriate options in there.

Security Center exists to warn people that they may not be protected.. the
primary use of the SP2 firewall is to protect the system when first
connected to the internet.. you would be surprised by the number of people
who know nothing about firewalls..

You need to check with the vendor of your firewall software to see if there is an update available to make it compatible with the Security Center.

The Security Center is far from worthless.
What did your firewall manufacturer say when you asked them about SP-2
and the security center?
The firewall manufacturer needs to make the updates available so their
firewall can be monitored by the Security Center, Microsoft can not do
this.
The current major brands are already monitored, what brand and version
of firewall do you have?

Or simply open Security Center and on the left side click "Change the
way..."
Make selections as desired.

Sygate 5.5 Build 2710 - I have opened security center and clicked not to
monitor the firewall and it still does - once again my question is how does
one turn it OFF ????????

Sygate Version 5.5 build 2710 approved by almighty MS - how to turn it off
not just tell it not to monitor it (which does not work).

You need to check with the vendor of your firewall software to see if there
is an update available to make it compatible with the Security Center.

I am protected but it will not stop popping up - btw MS firewall is not that
good of a firewall per the pros. How to turn OFF ?

Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services
Double click Security Center.
Change "Startup Type" to Disabled

Go to Start, Run and enter SERVICES.MSC Locate the Security Center Service and set it to Stopped and Manual or Stopped and Disabled.
