My OS is XP.
My problem is my Security Center is turned off. How do I turn it back on?

To start Security Centre:
Start,
Run,
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Com\comexp.msc
Select, Services (Local)
In the left window scroll down till you find 'Sercurity Center'
Highlight 'Security Center' and right click and select start.
If you want it to start every time you log on right click, select properties
and select 'Automatic'

Hope this Helps,

Simon

Thank you so much for your help. I've been using my laptop for about ten
years without a bit of trouble until I downloaded Symantec's 2006 virus
protection(recommended, since my Symantec 2002 virus protection has been
discontinued). Normally I would just renew when due and everything would be
alright. But when I downloaded and installed the 2006 version my machine
became intolerably slow. At which time I called Symantec, asked for a
refund and removed the download from the Add/Remove function, which really
messed up my machine. Luckily, I was able to Restore the laptop but got the
message that my Security Center was turned off, which brought me to the
newsgroup and your most excellent help, which again will allow me to monitor
my Security Center. So again thanks for your help.

Or Control Panel and click on administrative services and component
Services.
