Auto Updates appears to have stopped working ... was working fine for months.
Only recent change I've made to system was yesterday when I installed MS' WPA
patch, rebooted and about a half-hour later was notified (as I had it
configured to do) that updates were available. Looked over the list of
recommended updates and OK'd download ... Yellow shield in Notification Area
said "downloading 0%" and went away.

I guess it failed but not sure why, it never retried the downloads even
after I reconfigured it to "full" auto operation ... received no error msgs
when changing settings, etc. Also, checked "services" list and it's
automatically starting. Everything seems in order but it ignores the "time"
it's set to perform the updates ... any ideas?

Hi James, I also asked the updates to download a day ago, the Yellow shield went
away.
The next day, I logged in, the Yellow Shield appeared at 0%, then after awhile, it
started downloading. Perhaps you need to be patient.
All updates automatically downloaded just now.

Kaylene:
Sounds like a Zen thing (being patient with your computer) but I'll try. In
some sense, I was practicing patience by not using Windows Update and as you
predicted eventually Auto Updates did kick in ... unfortunately it was 2 days
later and not at the scheduled time (it was about 14 hours later!) Thanks for
sharing your experiences with me.
