I have WIndows XP SP2. I also have a firewall in my Router (which is enabled)
and therefore i have disabled the Windows XP built-in firewall. Every time I
restart my computer I tell Security Center that I have a firewall of my own
choice and want to disable Windows XP firewall. Why shold I have to do this
every time I restart my computer? How do I do to make Security Center
Remember?! There is a check box alternativ in the Popup window, and it is
checked. But still...

Thanks

Hi

Have you tried this one:

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.

hey...that was very helpful. I have been struggling with the same problem for
2 months now, even changed the registry manually, edited the netfw.inf file,
but nothing helped. Finally disabling the security center completely stopped
the annoying messages. Thanks!

You can tell XP that you have your own (software or hardware) firewall and
set the status to not monitored for the firewall setting, leaving security
centre running, and stopping the warning bubbles. This can be done for both
the automatic updates, and anti-virus options.
