Security center service

How do I start the security center service? When I open this option under
control panel, shows that this option has been stopped or was not started and
that I need to start the service. I do not have a clue as to how to start
the service. It was working. Also had to uninstall norton internet security
2005.

Click start/run, type cmd and click ok, from the prompt run:

net start wscsrv

I had a virus attack recently that hadthis symptom as one of th
effects.

The virus was W32 Chod.D

The other effects were:,

* My AV was disabled
* Access to some major Security sites on the web was blocked ( b
entries being put into my 'Hosts' file)

Try accessing the following site:

Of course, it may be something else, but try to access the followin
url:

www.zonelabs.com

If the page is 'not available' then it sounds very similar.

Note - this is a nasty invasive trojan ( I believe picked up from M
Messenger)

I just today checked responses; I'm out of town a lot and was unable to look
at the problem. The virus appears to be the source of my problems, but have
not yet been able to reset my security settings. Was unable to reinstall
norton av, but did install grisoft avg on a 30 day trial. The avg found and
deleted csrss.exe (referred to in symantec security response). Appears I
have more work to do.
