Thanks to all who answered my question yesterday about XP
and a 98 network. I met with my principal and the tech
guy. Their answer is to purchase a district laptop, brand
new, for me to use instead of my very nice Dell with the
pretty blue inserts. The laptop that they are providing
me, while brand new, will be outfitted with the latest
that Win 98 has to offer to preserve the integrity of
their network. I really don't lose here except that the
new laptop probably won't fit in the nice new messenger
bag I bought. They are the losers and they know it but
this, unfortunatley, is how it is in too many of our
school districts. As they say.. it's not a "steph"
problem, it's a district problem.

Thanks anyways....

I understand budgetary crises, but the district IT staff are
mouth-breathers. There is simply no kinder way to say this.
"Integrity of the network" is silly when you're talking about using
an old, unsupported OS that has about as much security as a wet paper
bag.
Lanwench,

Please.. Don't belittle the wet paper bag like that..

It has its pride.
Unfortunately, it will no longer be supported after December 31,
2002. You will need to upgrade to Ziplock 2.0.

NO!
Yellow and Blue DO make green!
*sob*
