Security av 2009

av2009 is blocking my access to Verizon. I already use Mcaffe and do not want
av 2009. How do I stop it from running? (It is not listed in programs or in
delete programs).

You don't need this program it is a viral program installed by download in
the background.
Run a thorough scan by doing the following steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

It is malware in the form of a rogue anti malware but it is NOT a "viral program" !

All viruses are malware, not all malware are viruses and too many think everrything bad is
a virus. This is NOT the case.

Install Malwarebytes and Spybot Search & destroy, and scan your System in
Safe Mode.
All info below.
Malwarebytes will removr Anti-virus 2009

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight.

Download, install, and update.

Important re: Safe Mode
If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot
the computer, and go into Safe Mode.
To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow
key to get to Safe Mode from list of options, then hit ENTER.
RESCAN your computer with your Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes and Spybot S & D
while in Safe Mode.
 
After talking with Microsoft, I confirmed I was spyware infected. AV 2009 is
not a MS product. Running the scanner on their LIVE ONECARE SITE (over 2
hours) and then a MS tech spending 40 minutes "restting my computer" appears
to have solved the problem. I previously tried the above approaches but
the"bug" prevented me using some of the sites. Thanks for your quick
turnaroundandsuggestions.

If you had done a quick google search or visited these groups any day of
the week, AV 2008 and AV 2009 have been known malware for a LONG TIME.

These sites are for downloading Anti-Malware and Anti-Spyware tools, in
order that I would use them myself:
