security and patches through GPO

hi,

was wondering if someone can assist me with some curiosity that I have?

can security patches and security packs be apply through GPO?
if so, how do I confirm if the patches/packs are or were successfully
install trhough GPO? I do not think it actually shows up on the Add\Remove
program?

Is there a link where I can details on these topics?

Service packs can be applied via GPO software policies. For security patches Software
Update Services [free] would be something to consider. It needs to run via IIS and
W2K/XP clients can be configured to update automatically via GPO settings. You can
use Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer to check computers for patches. --- Steve
