hey guys,
have used frontpage extensions 2002 settings to set up a username and
password in I.I.S. 5 for Windows 2000 on my website. I have also enabled
security permissions in frontpage 2000 and have followed the sie,

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301554

I have created a username and a password randomly for my homepage but I
don't know how I can see what user is accessing my website, whether it is an
administrator, a browser, author and how can I know the username of the
person actually using the website. I need to keep track of the number of
users on the website and what permissions they have as users. Please let me
know how I can monitor my users, do I need to do some coding? On my website,
I have divided the pages into administrators (5-10 people), authors (12-20
people) and browsers (100 people or so). Now I need to keep track of what
username is logged on as what and at what time. Also, even though the website
is split into administrators and general users, there is only one interface,
no different sub-folders or sub-webs.

Thanks,

A complicated issue, logging and keeping track of users as you described -
yes it would require custom coding.

There are many user-management scripts around with the capability to
password--protect pages & folders, but I don't know if they also keep a log
of users and the time they logged on etc.
