security alerts

Just upgraded to xp "2." I do not want auto upgrade. How do I get
windows to stop prompting me for it? How do I get that thing off the
tool bar? It isn't in msconfig startup and I can't fine it

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Security Center
and click on: "Change the way Security Center alerts me".
Uncheck "Automatic Updates" and click OK.
