Security Agents have no checkpoints

Microsoft Antispyware on my desktop is working normally, all agents are
active
with many checkpoints being monitored.

Antispyware on my notebook is not working normally.
Internet Agent is in-active, has one checkpoint and can't be activated.
System and Application Agents have no checkpoints. The help/diagnostics
screen say that the agents are active, but the Real-Time Protection screen
contradicts, saying the agents are in-active.

Both desktop and notebook are Dell models with Windows XP and latest sp2 and
latest updates.

Uninstalled and reinstalled software ont notebook three times, including
manually
deleting every registry entry with strings "gcas", "Giant" and "antispy,"
after uninstallation, but problem is still there. Error log is filled with
errors - see below. How can I fix this problem?

What other security or antivirus software is installed? What's different
between the two machines?
 
Zone Alarm firewall and antivirus is loaded on both the desktop and
notebook, but while I was trying to fix the problem on the notebook
computer, I had Zone Alarm turned off. The only difference between the two
computers is that I have the 2.0 Net Framework beta loaded on the computer
with AntiSpyware working properly - the notebook has ver 1.1 with latest
patches installed. However, I don't think AntiSpyware uses Net Framework. In
terms of the AntiSpyware's fingerprint on the computer, are there any other
files than those located in the application directory? Are there hidden
files in other directories? Since I uninstalled the software, deleted every
file and registry key the uninstallation program missed and reinstalled the
application; shouldn't it have work? This is what I thought I did, but I
must have missed something or it would have worked. All other applications
on the notebook work properly and if it was a shared system file problem, it
seems that should have caused a problem elsewhere. I noticed that that the
memory used by gcasDtServe.exe and gcasServe.exe on the notebook computer is
smaller than the same processes on the desktop. Seems like something is not
being loaded.

I had the same problem, and in addition I could not see
the "tree" in the Advanced Options/System Explorers.
After installing vbrun60sp6.exe, these problems were
resolved.

I found the problem. Both of the MS AntiSpyware processes gcasDtServe.exe
and gcasServe.exe use the Visual Basic runtime machine found in
msvbvm60.dll. By running the update:
