Hello!

I finally have the A/V computer we use in our organization for presentations
working correctly. Can I lock the Slide Show Setup options (Slide Show > Set
Up Slide Show) so as to keep unauthorized (but well meaning :) ) folks from
changing them?

Thanks for looking!

Nathan

Yes and no, and I'm sure of that.

Yes, you can make it more difficult for a non-knowledgeable person to change
those settings, but no, you can not prevent changes by a skilled operator or
a lucky amateur.

You can remove the button from the menu that accesses the slideshow setup
functions, but simply restoring the toolbars to their default will bring it
back. It will keep most people out, I guess.

View => Toolbars => Customize => Slideshow => Click and drag the slideshow
setup button off the pulldown menu

Locking it is not easy but a simple answer is remove it (temporarily) from
the menu.

Tools > customise

Open the slide show menu and drag the set up show command right off the menus

To put it back Tools > customise>commands > slide show and drag it back onto
the menu

Did that answer the question / help?

Bill and John's suggestions will help keep fingers off the settings on that one
machine, but you should understand that the slide show settings are a property
of each individual presentation, not of PowerPoint.

A show I send you may have entirely different settings than the other shows
you've set up, and PPT will use my settings when it plays the show (as always,
there are exceptions, but let's close our eyes, put our fingers in our ears and
hum loudly to drown them out for now).

I expect you know this but thought I'd toss it out for consideration in case
not.
