I have secured an Access database using the security
wizard. I need to secure another database. The second db
has link tables to the first one. I have tried many ways,
and I cannot make it work. Please help.

This is what I have tried:
- Secure the 1st db with the security wizard (using the
option Create a new Workgroup Information File - Option
1). This create a shortcut and a secured.mdw file
- Use the Secured.mdw workgroup as default workgroup
(using the Access Workgroup Administrator)
- Secure the 2nd database using the security wizard,
(using the option Modify my current workgroup information
file - Option 2)
- Changing the workgroup back to system.mdw as the
databases are used in a multi-user environment, and they
are using other Access databases as well

The problem that if I open the database from the shortcut,
it is secured, but I can still open the database from
the .mdb file, and it is not secured.

I have tried many things, using 2 workgroup, but the
databases are sharing tables, so they cannot communicate.
I have tried to use VBA and ADO to relink the table, but
could not solve all the related problems.

So please, please help me.

I suppose I am not the only one who have/had this problem.
What am I doing wrong?

I am using Access 2000 + ADO

Thank you

Anne

What is happening indicates you do not have the security set properly

I suggest you start by reading
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];207793

Access security is a great feature, but it is, by nature a complex product
with a very steep learning curve. Properly used it offers very safe
versatile protection and control. However a simple mistake can lock
everyone including God out.

Practice on some copies to make sure you know what you are doing.
