secure wireless connection

i just bought a router, and i got my computer connected, but how do i put a
lock or security on it so i don't have others tapping into my computer?
 
i'm a complete dummy when it comes to this, so please bear with me, i will
try and i did read up on the website you posted.. thank you.. and i'll let
you know.. appreciate your help...

You need to access the Router web interface and set the wireless security on
the router first then Write down the WPA/WEP key you will create exact on a
piece of paper then access the other PC that will connect wirelessly to the
Router and locate the SSID name of your wireless Network and Double click you
will be prompted for the key.
