Secure file sharing across the Net

I would like to securely share folders between two Windows
XP (or Win 2000) computers in different homes for a small
business.

Both locations have cable broadband from the same ISP, but
since the worm threats this past summer, ports for file
sharing (non-secure) using \\my.ip.address\sharename in
Windows Explorer appears to have been disabled by the ISP.

I do hardware fairly well, and I can do home networking
with EtherNet cables and hubs but I'm essentially a novice
at networking. What can I do to get secure file-sharing
between these two locations? And are there any good
references (on-line or books) on this?

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Will the sharing computer always be one computer. If so, you can set up a
VPN server. Or for once-in-a-while file transfers, you can use FTP.

Thanks for the quick response, Mike! I already have FTP
set up. Any pointers on setting up a VPN server on Win2K
Pro, or where to look for info on this?

Thanks, again!

My Bad. You cannot set up a VPN server on W2KPro. W2K Server or XP Pro
does have VPN Server, or you can set up an RAS server on W2K Pro and use a
VPN client to connect to it.
