Secondary HD permissions problem

Hi Guys,

Please excuse my ignorance but I had a secondary HD for personal storage on
my comp which I set so that only my admin account could access it.

For some reason the user account became damaged and although I managed to
access all the data in My Documents etc for this account via a new admin
account, I couldn't gain access to the secondary hard drive.

I have now tried the drive in both a win XP and win 2000 box and, although
it works physically and is correctly recognised by each machine, it is
disabled and access is denied.

Is there a way to get access to my data? It seems like there should be but I
don't have the knowledge to solve this.

I really don't want to reformat and lose my data

Thank you very much for any help

<snip>

If you can see the folders but it's simply a matter of not being able to
access them...
you need to take ownership of them (from the administrative account)

Take ownership of the files.

Thanks for your help guys.

Perhaps I should have been clearer, although the drive is seen in bios and
by windows it is the entire drive I can't access not just folders. I can't
see any folders and when I click on drive in explorer I get "Access Denied"

Also in device manager the drive is listed with no question mark or error
symbols but I did notice that the "Disable" icon is not available for this
drive. Does this mean it is already disabled in some way?

Can you right click on the drive and look at properties?

if so...look in the sharing tab
