One needs to logon with Admin rights to create a local printer. Users can
print after an administrator has added a local printer but I have seen
posting where some drivers seem to be blocking this. If you can create a
local printer that prints to a Local Port with the name nul using any of the
drivers that are on the XP CD and a user cannot also print to the nul
printer when logged in, the issue is with the Print Driver.
It's expected that you'll find no printer if there is not one shared on the
network.

On Windows XP on my desktop, the primary one, two printers are installed
as local printers and work fine. Switching to the secondary desktops, both
printers are ready for printing but don't. I tried adding a printer with the
wizzard and it does not offer me the option of a local printer, only a
network printer, and i'm not a network. Still, continuing on with the
network option I am prompted to brouse for a printer but it never finds one.
Why cant I print on my secondary desktops?
