I have a master WD 120GB 8M drive as master. I added
another (exact model) today. The BIOS recognizes it.
Windoes XP's Device manager recognizes it. But no
automatic drive letter added. Device Manager;'s Properties
indicates the new drive's status is "Not Initialized". How
the heck do you "initialize" this second drive???. I
thought Windows XP could recognize the drive automatically.
Any help is appreciated -> (e-mail address removed)
Thanks!!!

First make sure you have the jumpers installed properly. Western Digital
drives have different jumper settings for a drive as a master with a slave
installed and a drive as a master by itself. Thus installing a second drive
may require setting the jumpers on both the slave and the primary drive.
This is not the case if you use cable select.

Now for initializing the drive:

Use Start ---> Settings ---> Control Panel --> administrative
tools ---Computer Management --> Disk management

The new drive will appear there. Right click on it and partition and format
the drive.
