These are INF files which enable the MS driver for Standard PCI IDE
controller to work with the nForce MCP2 IDE controller. I take no
responsibility of anything that might happen to your computer when using
these.

It should work for 98/ME/2K/XP but is only tested on W2K and also got a
positive report from a W98 user. ME and XP is just assumed.

Available at:

http://norrsken.dhs.org/hacks/nvide_hack.zip (only 2.4k!)

Excuse my ignorance but I have a nForce MCP2 IDE controller (A7N8X Deluxe),
currently running the 2.45 NVidia driver set and I am puzzled as to why I
would need these INFs (XP).

You don't need them in XP, they just "work". You don't really need them in
2K either, but it makes your device manager look prettier. I don't know
about Win98 as i just made those for a guy requesting them.

If you would really really need them, I guess nVidia would have released
them already. =/

More specifically, the Win2k ones applies some timings found in the "real"
nVidia XP ones. The Win98 ones makes your HD controller show "dual fifo"
instead of "single fifo" but I don't know if that gives any real performance
increase.

There's another guy doing something similar, but he releases the whole (not
really needed) driver pack:

I think it is just so your IDE controller shows up with a specific name, not
a functionality change...
