I work in a chain of pharmacies and we use P.C's as EPOS
machines and we have recently put new machines in these
have XP home on them. We are using 2 printers, one is a
reciept printer (epson) and the other a lable printer
(zebra). Now whats happening is that the lable printer
seems to be taking the settings from the receipt printer
as this is the default printer. I have tried installing a
second LPT port and this just made things worse. The
lable printer is currently running on USB it works but
cut's a lot of the information off.

I suppose you have both the POS application and the label application
running concurrently. Typically you can from the print setup menu in a
program select a printer even if it is not the default, leaving any
other program using the default printer unless a different selection is
likewise made. The selection of the label printer in the labeling
program should remain until the program is terminated. Both the POS
program and the labeling program might have an option somewhere in
preferences, tools, options, menus to permanently specifiy a given
printer?
