Hi,
i'd like to put a new harddrive in my computer and am
wondering the best way to go about it. I am thinking of
making a partition image of my current working one on the
new drive and then use this drive - reformating my old
drive. What do you think is the best way to go about this?
I do not have a copy of xp as i got this one installed on
my computer from the distributor.
All help appreciated. Regards,
James.

Hello

How do you plan to use the 2nd second harddrive or will
it just be a backup drive. If you just install the drive as a slave
and make sure that you jumper it correctly.

Hello

Well if that is the case your best option would be to
just install Windows on to it, but from what your saying
you only have your original copy that came on your pc.

Since you only have that one copy of XP you would
need an additional lic for it, even if you tried to use ghost

It should work.

Install new drive as slave to current drive.
Make image from current drive to slave (or "disk copy" I remember DriveImage
calling it
Remove old drive, jumper new as master and try.
When new drive working OK, install old drive in different computer, but
don't imagine you can boot from it, as the hardware is differen, rather I'd
copy needed data files from it and format it.
