Perhaps someone could suggest how to solve the following
problem. I installed w2000 and found that my second hard
drive, which I use for large file storage, is no longer
recognized by my computer, whereas it was with w98. How
do I address this problem.

I had a similar problem. Over a year ago, I installed a second drive, one
that did not exist when I first bought my system and upgraded to W2K. I
went through the installation instructions provided with the drive, and all
worked fine. However, last week, my system had been attacked by a hacker
who did enough damage that I had to format the C: partition and then
reinstall everything. When I did that, I found that neither my second drive
nor my DLink NIC were recognised. But, the good news is that when I went
into Device Manager, there was an odd entry that caught my attention. The
entry was "Other", and when I examined it, I found it had two entries; one
for a NIC and one for a "mass storage device". I placed the floppy that
had the software for the NIC into a: and the CD having the software for the
drive into the CD drive. I then selected each and went into properties, and
there I pressed the button to reinstall the driver, and to look for the
driver on the appropriate drive. This worked flawlessly. W2K found the
drivers it wanted, and once I close all the windows I had opened in this
process, all worked flawlessly.

Perhaps your problem has a cause similar to mine. I say this because I had
the same problem with my NIC when I upgraded from NT to W2K.
