I just installed windows XP on my system, which was
previously running Windows 2000. I have a 2nd hard drive
I use as a backup drive. All my important files are on
it. I did a full install of XP on my main hard drive,
with the 2nd one disconnected. After reconnecting it, it
does not show under "My Computer." It is listed in the
device manager, and in the system administration area the
drive has a ! icon on it and is labeled "Dynamic"
and "Foreign." It is a Maxtor drive, same kind as my
primary drive. Any ideas?

If you have "Tweak U/I" installed on your computer open
it up and under "MY COMPUTER" make sure boxes are checked
for the drive in Question.

Sorry, I don't have Tweak U/I. Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help, folks. With your cues, I discovered
that dynamic hard disks are not supported by Windows XP
Home Edition. Looks like I'll have to recover my data on
a 2000 machine and manually transfer all my files.

Which version of Windows XP? If its XP Home, then it will not
recognise Dynamic disks. You will have to reinstall Windows 2000 to
read the 2nd disk.
If its XP Pro then the disk needs to updated to be able to read it.
See 'Disk status descriptions' under 'Help and Support' on Start menu.
