Hello,

Just after a bit of advice, we have got 2 domain controllers set up,
(all working) but seem to have a problem when the main DC is down, the
second DC cannot log on to the network until the main DC is back up.

Does any body know of any thing I can do to allow the second DC to log
on to the network without the Main DC?

Thanks for the help.

Is the second DC a global catalogue server? If DC1 holds the only GC then
you might have trouble logging in.

Are there any known problems with adding another GC, is it likeley to
corrupt the servers?

Thanks Again

No, this will not cause a problem. In fact, it is a recommended step. Simply
make your second DC a Global Catalogue server if it is not already.

I have added the second DC to the AD Sites and Services, but when I
click the [+] icon next to the server is does not display the 'NTDS
Settings', Have I missed something

Thanks

Maybe there was a problem with the AD installation on that server. Try a
dcpromo back to a member server and repromote.
