Hello
In Windows XP, I could search for a word in some text files.
How can I do that in Vista?

Thanks

Please I need your help.

try:
Start > Search > Search Tools > Search Options > and check - "Always search
file names and Contents..."
Does this work for you?

This does not work for me. I get as far as:

and there is nowhere else to go, no further options.

Any ideas?

Thanks
I this case try from there:
Tools>Folder Options>Search and check - "Always search file names and
Contents..."
That help?

I don't know where I'm supposed to be when I first go to tools.
I figured an folder explore window, but I could not find a tools menu. That
is how one gets to folder options in XP.

I'm new to Vista, and feeling a bit lost... things appear and disappear
seemingly randomly.

Thanks
Michael

Hi, Michael.

I think Bob was starting from a Windows Explorer window, with the Menu Bar
displayed; this has a Tools button. If you don't see the Menu Bar in
Windows Explorer, you can turn it on momentarily by pressing <Alt> or
(semi-)permanently by clicking Organize | Layout and checking that
selection.

Another way to get there is to click Start | Control Panel | Folder Options.

With all your suggestions, I still can not get Vista to find the 'Contents'
with in a file.
It was a snap with Windows 2000.
I have checked "Always search file name and contents" still no luck!
