My wife's PC (running Windows XP Home Edition 2002, SP2) was used heavily by
our grown children and their spouses over the holidays, with a number of
social networking downloads installed. Now sometimes when we direct it to
shut down, it restarts instead.
I have also found that trying to search the registry (using regedit's Find
command) causes the whole system to reboot!
Should I try reverting to a previous system save point, do you think? As
opposed to trying to clean up the registry or even reinstall windows. I have
disabled Automatic Restart on System Failure (MyComputer, Properties,
Advanced tab).
