In Windows 2000, 98 etc you used to be able to have an entry like this in
"look in" when searching:

c:;d:\inthisplace;d:\heretoo

and those three locations would be worked through. This isn't the case with
XP - you just get "...is not a valid folder". Does anyone know of a fix for
this? (Other than firing up three concurrent searches...).

Apologies of this has been asked recently - though I can't see the topic
hanging around.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Sharon's right. If you'd like a replacement
similar to the win98, which even allows dual views at the same
time, try out PowerDesk 6. The freebie version does everything
windows did but better and much faster, IMO, and ALL the features
purported to work, work as you expect.

Good prouct. The Pro version will let you replace windows
explorer with it also.

Thanks, both. I was hoping for a registry hack, but it sounds like WinXP
isn't up for it. Shame, as I've just battled through the "I don't search by
default for ALL file types" feature of XP too.

So happens I recently grabbed the free version of PowerDesk 6, so I'll give
that a try (sadly the otherwise-wonderful "explorer2" only uses Windows's
search unless you go Pro). Have also grabbed AgentRansack for a play.

Thanks again.
