I have been conducting searches of my Word documents using Start,
Search, For Files or Folders, Search for files or folders named
"*.doc".

My operating system is Windows Me.

The search procedure seems to work, except that false positives may
occur. For example, search results for occurrences of "cement" will
yield all occurrences of "replacement".

Is there a way to avoid the false positives?

On the Find dialog box, click on the More button and check "Find whole words
only."

Thanks to Charles for the post.

If I understand you correctly, your instructions apply once you arrive
in a Word document.

I guess there is no similar approach within the Search Results
display.

I did stumble upon a way to avoid finding "replacement" with the
"cement" search, namely search for
*space*cement.

Thanks again
