Searching for Information when opening a database...

I am using Microsoft Access 2003. I've been trying for I don't know how long
to figure out this problem. I've already created a switchboard with the
forms I want to use. What I want to be able to do is to open a form, click a
command button to search for a particular field that I am looking for. A
while ago, someone had created a program at work, and when you opened up the
access program, the first thing that popped up was kind of like a search
dialog box. You typed in the person's name that you were looking for, and if
they were in the database, their information would show up. If it wasn't,
then you entered the person's information. Can anyone help me with this, or
tell me where I can get more help? I hope my question wasn't too confusing!
Thank you.

Gabby, this is not hard to do...just open your form in design view, pull down
your toolbox, select a combo box and use the contact name or whatever field
you want to search by. If you need an example of a finished product to
mimic, email be directly.
